Martin Gleadow our Dog Behaviourist has been involved in Rehabilitating Dogs with Northern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue now based in Newby Bridge,South Cumbria since 1990.
He has two rescue dogs of his own at the moment that came with a number of psychological problems from an unstable background. Now rehabilitated they are often used as calm submissive examples when working with clients problem dogs.
He has 30 years experience in turning round dogs with behavioural issues so they become a pleasure not a pain.
Martin also works with Animal Concern West at Workington Cumbria. As well as working to solve behaviour issues with the dogs in the Rescue Kennels he travels to addresses throughout Cumbria,Lancashire.South Scotland to work with recently rehomed dogs and their new family. This has resulted in a number of very difficult to manage dogs remaining in the new
home.
We use calm, assertive methods to rehabilitate dogs and plenty of kindness with praise and affection given at the right time.
We deal with pulling on the lead as a speciality so the dog whisper walks then train you how to do this. This is done through body language and your energy. No tugging or reverse walking involved.
We solve problems of nuisance barking, nervousness, aggression on the lead and other leadership issues.
Sessions are normally 3 hours in duration but 1 hour initial consultations may be discussed depending on the problem.
We have worked with success with puppies to quite elderly dogs to solve many problems and have worked with nearly all breeds of dog from Airedale to Vizsla.
